Leaf Packet massage or Elakhizi

Leaf packet massage is a bolos bag massage with medicinal leaves which are generally known as Erundi leaves in India. These leave are very strong and good and have a great importance in ayurveda and works as antiseptic leaves too..In olden days when there were no doctors and no sources of getting proper treatment ,people were using these leaves to get relief from any pains or even wounds,using the paste of these leaves on different wounds with turmeic has prooven to be miracle  thus It is very effective in improving the strength of muscles, relieving body pain and curing diseases such as arthritis and paralysis. In this treatment, herbal leaves are applied to the whole body in bundles with hot medicated oils. The treatment is also known by the name Patrawedam.

Ricinus, drum stick, tamarind and calotropis gigantia are  botnical names of these herbal leaves which are  used for the treatment. The leaves are fried together in neem or caster oil until a brown color is attained.then Lemon pieces and coconut scapes are then added to it. All these are tied in cloth boluses.After this bag is prepared,one can use it by dipping into warm oil(Just the base of packet)and using it on body with slight thumping on every part...After the massage is complete, patient is given a bath in warm water.
